mira con el gspot que codecs emplea la segunda temporada, lo más seguro que los hayan ripeado otros y hayan empleado otros codecs

el formato que más calidad tendrán será en .avi

y el tamaño si que importa si las dos son .avi (ya que a mayor tamaño mayor bitrate de video)

si solo quieres ver las pelis como lo haces ahora las veras a la máxima calidad posible, ya que si las pasas a VCD para grabarlas en un cd pierdes calidad (a cada conversión que haces pierdes algo de calidad, por mucha calidad que le des y aunque emplees 500000 cds para una pelicula)

se puede grabar directamente en un cd o dvd sin pasarlas a vcd, pero claro los dvds de sobremesa "normales" (ya que hay algunos que si que reproducen divx), solo reproducen vcd (video-cd) o sus derivados.

podrías comunicarlo a los de lg, busca un correo por su página oficial y les cuentas tu problema (ya que quizas es un fallo suyo en la actualización del firmware)

DVD-Rip, DCD-Scr, Telecine, VHS-Rip, Screener, TeleSync, TV-Ripy  Cam

por orden, el primero es un ripeo de un dvd (imagen y audio -es del de mayor calidad), el segundo (imagino que querías poner DVD-Screener) tiene la imagen del dvd pero el sonido es de cine, telecine es la imagen del cine (de estos rusos o por ahi de los que se hacen grandes montajes xD), un VHS-Rip es un ripeo de un vhs, un screener es el que se graba con una camara del cine (significa lo mismo que cam), telesync es un grupo que va a grabar al cine con la cámara (pero su calidad es grande), y tv-rip es un ripeo de television

2- CVomo puedo saber que peliculas ya tienen los subtitulos incorporados, o donde puedo encontrar peliculas con los subtitulos listos. o cual de las opciones de Suprnova en movie elijo para que me aparezca con el sonido original pero con subtitulos

esto depende de la gente que "cuelge" las peliculas, pero si tienen subtitulos lo pondrá, no? XD

bueno, en teoria, al cambiar el firmware se tienen que modificar los drivers (o al menos decirle al windows que tienes una grabadora con tal y tal velocidad)

pero de ahi a que falle windows es bastante raro

creo que será problema de tu windows xp, intenta entrar en modo a prueba de fallos y comprobar que puede pasar.

ya que el firmware no tiene que ver con ningun SO....

eso se hace actualizando el firmware de la grabadora, sobre lo de grabar dvds de doble capa no he leido nada, pero algo sale para grabar a 8x:

To update the firmware of the GSA-4040B please refer to the following instructions:

Note: Not following the subsequent update instructions explicitly will result in
permanent damage to your drive, for which LG will not be responsible.

This firmware update is for drives with original firmware versions below A303.
The drives must be original LG branded drives with the DVD Writer
model number GSA-4040B(no OEM units).

If you have an OEM unit, branded with another manufacturers name,
please contact that manufacturer for support and firmware updates.

This firmware update is for use only on PC¡¯s with Windows XP, Windows 2000,
Windows Millennium Edition (ME), or Windows 98.

¡Ø Critical Instructions: (to be followed carefully)

1. Connect the drive as ¡°master¡± by it self, on the secondary IDE controller
with no other device on the same IDE cable, making note to set the jumper
on the back of the drive to the ¡°master¡± position.
2. Download the file GSA-4040A304(EW).ZIP to a folder of your choice.
This download includes this "Read me(ew)" text file, as well as the GSA4040A304.EXE program,
which will auto-update your drive¡¯s firmware.
3. Close all other programs including: screen saber, antivirus and/or power-down programs.
(If these programs are not closed, they will try to engage the PC, during the update process,
thus interrupting the update and damaging the drive).
4. Check the drive to ensure that there is no disk in the tray
before you start the update procedure.

5. Go into the folder with the update file and double click the GSA4040A304.EXE program
and click the ¡°update¡± button (red). Once the update is complete,
you will see ¡°Firmware Update Complete¡± and the button will become green
and advise you to reboot the system.

¡Ø You will need to reboot your PC

The update will be complete, after you reboot your system.

WARNING:
Do not open any programs or start any system functions during the update,
as they will interfere with data transfer and damage the drive.
Do not cancel the operation once it has been started or the drive will
become permanently damaged, as a result.
